Fuel Economy
Gas prices are always fluctuating, so it's nice to have a fuel-efficient truck that won't cost as much at the fuel pump. Lancaster drivers appreciate that the Toyota Tacoma earns up to 23 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when properly equipped. The Ford Ranger returns 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with its most efficient powertrain.
Acceleration
While the Ford Ranger's available turbocharged V6 engine produces more horsepower than the Toyota Tacoma's strongest four-cylinder engine option (405 to 326), the Tacoma generates more torque (465 to 430). Its higher torque gives it quicker acceleration off the line than the Ranger.
Off-Roading Equipment
The Toyota Tacoma uses a combination of plentiful torque and a refined suspension to make traversing trails near Ephrata a pleasure. The new Tacoma Trailhunter trim uses a lifted suspension with Old Man Emu monotube shocks, 33-inch all-terrain tires, Crawl Control, anti-roll bar disconnect, a locking differential, an air compressor, and a terrain monitor to master almost any landscape or road condition. The Ford Ranger also offers off-road capable trims, but they're not quite as impressive as the Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter models.
