Temperatures in Pennsylvania can get downright frigid, staying in the neighborhood of 27 degrees to 32 degrees. We also get more than our share of snow, ice and freezing rain. Those are all good reasons to bring your Toyota RAV4, your Toyota Sienna or your Toyota Tacoma to our service center for a winter checkup. By having us do a series of winter safety checks at New Holland Toyota in New Holland PA, we can help keep you and your family safe.
Wintertime check #1: Let us check your battery
You've probably noticed that it can be much tougher to get started on a cold winter morning. If you think you've got it tough, just think about the job your battery has to do. Cold temperatures make it much more challenging for your battery to deliver the cold cranking amps it's supposed to give you. Let us do a load test and see if you have enough juice to do the job. If not, we have outstanding batteries in stock and will be happy to install one for you.
Wintertime check #2: Let us check your brakes
Your brakes are obviously some of the most important safety components on your car, especially when you're traveling over roadways that are covered with ice, snow or rain. What's more, you can tell if your brake pads are starting to wear out if you hear a squeaking sound each time you step on the brake pedal. If that's the case, we can install new brake pads and if we do it early enough, we can help you avoid having to also replace your more expensive rotors.
Wintertime check #3: Let us check your tires
The tires on your Toyota are the ultimate points of contact that separate you and your family from the road. That's why it's so important to have us check the tread depth on your tires to make sure you have enough to travel safely even on winter surfaces. If you have anything less than 4/32nds of an inch, we will recommend that you get new tires. We have an outstanding selection of great new tires in stock and we can install them, giving you the right kind of mounting and balancing.
Wintertime check #4: Let us do a wheel alignment
If you do get new tires, be sure to have us do a wheel alignment to make sure you're tracking properly. Of course, winter can be hard on roads which is why you could easily hit a pothole hard as youāre driving around Lancaster, Reading or Ephrata PA. That would be more than enough to knock your wheels out of alignment and that's why it's a good idea to have us do an alignment check every time you get your oil changed.
Wintertime check #5: Let us check your antifreeze
Antifreeze is a chemically-treated liquid that's formulated to help keep the water in your engines cooling system from freezing when the outside air is ice cold. Antifreeze makes that happen by reducing the freezing point of the water in your radiator. When outside temperatures drop, coolant gets pumped through your engine block and helps maintain a safe, even temperature. We can be sure you have enough antifreeze and provide a flush and refill if required.
Wintertime check #6: Let us check your windshield wipers
With all the rain, snow and sleet hitting your windshield, your windshield wipers become another critical safety component. We can check the blades and the entire assembly, and replace your windshield wipers if they need it. Schedule a winter checkup and make the short drive from Lititz or Thorndale PA to visit our service center at New Holland Toyota in New Holland PA.
